Piet Mondrian Art

This term our focus for the visual arts is based on the artist Piet Mondrian. Mondrian used the simplest combinations of straight lines, right angles, primary colours, and black, white, and gray within his art work.

We began by creating our own piece of computer generated art which reflected his style. Currently we are working on our own paintings using this artists model. Here are some examples of our work:

Huia Pod Assembly

Today in our assembly our class designed our own numeracy games and taught them to the rest of our pod! Check out the photos to see us teaching the younger members of Huia

Procedural Writing

Our Focus for this term has been on procedural writing. After spending many weeks looking at the elements of a procedure we all wrote our own with the aim to cater to the five year old children within our pod. Last week we visited room 14 and taught our procedures to the children, it was a great way for us to see if we had covered all the parts of a procedure and if our own were able to be followed.

Huia hanging out together!!!

Each week the Huia pod get together for Pod fitness, we enjoy being with each other and joining in with fun activities. For our year 5 and 6 children this means taking on leadership roles and running the games and the activities for the rest of our pod. Check out these pictures to see us all in action!

Welcome to the Funky Fifteen!

We are located in the Huia pod in room 15. We are really excited about our learning journey this year. Being seniors we are really excited about all the responsibilities we will be taking on.
